Have you considered an elopement or intimate wedding? | Tasmanian Elopement Photographer

Have you considered an elopement or intimate wedding?

A wedding day focused on the two of you.

Is all the health concerns and world pandemic stopping you from planning your wedding? Or does everybody have an idea of what you should do on your wedding day? Next thing you know your dream wedding isn’t your dream wedding anymore. Is the idea of a big wedding just not your thing? You could trash all the formal wedding ideas and elope for the ceremony instead.

This doesn’t mean you don’t get to wear a wedding dress or miss out on saying your wedding vows and not getting to enjoy a celebration dinner. NO! Don’t downplay you're elopement.

Just because you’re eloping that doesn’t mean the day is any less special. It’s still your wedding and there is every reason to be excited and celebrate just as much.

Once upon a time to elope meant running away and having a secret marriage, but these days it’s a little different.

Eloping allows you to break all traditions and focus on just the two of you and plan the wedding of your dreams without the pressure.

Elopements focuses on your wedding day experience rather than your guests, they typically have less than 20 guests or none at all.

Can you envision a quiet, intimate ceremony in the middle of nature, or do you love the idea of having an exciting adventure? The possibilities are endless when you choose to elope.

Let’s checkout the pro’s and con’s

  • Pro: It’s far less expensive

Avoid the costs of having a massive reception with a ton of guests, large venue, decorations for a large space, and other related costs. On average weddings can cost $30,000. Imagine all the ways you could spend that on an elopement turned honeymoon. Double pro!!

  • Con: If a family member has offered to help pay, should they have a say at what your day should look like?

If you have a family member who is helping with the budget, there’s a good chance they feel like they are entitled to have a say in what the day looks like. I’m a firm believer that you and only you should choose what your wedding day is like…it’s YOUR day, after all, this is a con of eloping that you do have to take into consideration.

  • Pro: You get to spend quality time with your partner & your nearest and dearest

One thing I hear often after a big wedding is that the day went by so quickly, and they barely had any alone time together, they spent all night mingling and still didn’t get around to see everyone. One of the pros of eloping is that you and your partner get to spend pretty much the whole day together…and it can just be the two of you if you want it to or a handful of you closest!

  • Con: You don’t get to invite all your family and friends

I want to be clear up about elopements. Just because you elope, doesn’t mean you can’t invite friends and family. Yes, some couples choose to elope with no one else present, but that isn’t a requirement. But you’re also not inviting 100 people, if you prefer more privacy and intimacy on your day, an elopement might be a better fit.

  • Pro: You Call the Shots
Elopement puts you and your partner back in control. You can make your own decisions without family and friends getting involved. Your day will be 100% about the two of you. Family pressure can be intense during the wedding planning process, but elopements free you of that.

  • Con: You May Miss Out on Some Traditions

There are just some limitations that eloping can’t compete with and certain traditions that require a lot of guests and just is not elopement friendly. So that means no throwing the bouquet, no parent/child dance. If that’s a deal-breaker for you, you may need to reconsider eloping.

  • Pro: You can save the environment
Have ever thought about how much rubbish you get at the end of a wedding? Big weddings are full of so much stuff that mostly ends up in the bin. Eloping allows for less waste.

There is a lot to consider whether you decide to elope or not. At the end of the day it’s important to figure out what your wedding day of your dreams looks like. You do you.

Please find below some other elopement weddings I have done just recently here in Tasmania. I would love to here from you if you’re planning on eloping and help in any way I can as you plan this exciting time.
